Munich, Germany (May and October 2010)

Welcome to Munich, Germany!!

The Hofbrauhaus' motto, "Oans, zwoa, g'suffa!"  "One, two, DRINK!"  And trust me!  They live by their motto!   You walk thru the doors and you walk into chaos!  Whether it is at 10am or 10pm they are partying it up!  The Hofbrauhaus has been around in 1589!  Let me repeat that!  1589!!  Their beer is world famous, Lance and my dad loved it... I hated it.  Gross beer.  Ick.  But you know what is even cool than trying world famous beer?  Sitting in the same room that Mozart visited and the same room that Hitler proclaimed his intentions for the National Socialist party.  History seeps out of the walls and the beers :)

Lance and I infront of the Nymphenburg Palace.  This photo... doesn't even show 1/4 of the palace.  It is MASSIVE!  The construction started back in 1664 and was finished in 1674.  Behind the palace is a courtyard that is bigger than the palace!  With gardens, statues, ponds, and loads of ducks!  Oh... did I forget to mention... this was a gift to a queen for giving birth to a son.... Oh... it was JUST her summer home.... Yeah.

Lance and I, eating crepes (MY FAVORITE THINGS EVER!!), in front of the New Town Hall in the Marienplatz.  The gothic tower was constructed in 1867 and was finished around the 1900s.  The Hall is amazing.  It is HUGE and has the neatest clock tower that has little figurines that move twice a day and dance around!!

We also paid respect to a Concentration Camp: Dachau.  This specific camp was built in 1933 and was actually a "test" camp.  If the Nazi party came up with an idea, they would test it here on their prisoners, and depending on the "test results" they would drop the idea or force the other concentration camps to implement it.  In this picture, you can see the layout of the barracks - as far as the eye can see.  When you enter into the camp through the gate, the sign reads, "Arbeit macht frei."  "Through work one will be free."
