Neuschwanstein Castle, Germany (October 2010)

WELCOME TO BAVARIA!

Good morning!  This is probably the most beautiful scenery that I've ever woken up to!  Waking up in Germany and looking out to see the amazing Austrian Alps just over the horizon!

Lance, my wonderful visiting parents, and I took a road trip to Munich and headed down to see the Neuschwanstein Castle.  If you ever get the chance to go see this castle, go.

Incase you think you have never heard of or seen this castle.... Think again!  Ever seen a Disney movie??  If you said, "Yes", then congratulations!!  Welcome to what Sleeping Beauty's Castle was modeled off of!  Anytime you see the opening Disney blue screen with the castle... this is it!

The castle was finished in 1837 and was a summer home, yes... summer home to Ludwig II's family.  He was nicknamed The Swan King.  And he was a little on the crazy side.  Literally.  But this guy had a LOT of awesome things in his castle!  Such as a Cave Room.  Adorned with realistic stalactites and stalagmites, and cold.  He even had a state of the art (for the 1830's) fancy bathroom installed in his room!  A true king's thrown room! :)  Though, sadly enough, out of the 200 planned rooms, only 12 were built... do to the fact that he was drowned in a plot to dethrown him.

This castle attracts more than 1.3 million people a year!  WoW!
